Dog face puffer with a Anemone

Can you keep a dog faced puffer with a bubble tip anemone. I have a tomato clown and wanted to get him a anemone but I'm wondering bout my puffer. I have had snails in with my puffer for 3 months and he doesn't bother them so I was thinking bout giving it a shot.. Not to mention any time my puffer goes near my tomato clowns "sleep spot" the clown whips out and scares my puffer across the tank! I know its my money in regards to the anemone but I have spoken to people who have seen it work.. Just wondering everyone's opinion.. Is the worst case scenario that my puffer would kill my anemone? Thanks for the info!! Rich

The puffer shouldn't touch the anemone. I have a porcupine puffer in my tank with a anemone and he doesn't touch it. I say you would be fine adding it to your setup

that can go either way - if the clown hosts the anenome it will almost certainly be ok - if the anenome is on its own it will more than likely become a meal - when the base and body become exposed they seem to be quite tempting to puffers and the like. However it depends on the temperament of the individual fish.

absolutely no i hada dogface puffer for six months and had to take him back because he was to aggresive with my triggers and grouper and everybody else and they wil eat any invert. they can get there sharp teeth on.
Same as with porcupines i have had 3 and they are very friendly but dont like inverts. that much either they arent near as aggresive as the dogface but still wiill pick at inverts. until they kill them.

Hm, how long have you had yours? Generaly speaking puffers are not reef safe. There are exceptions to every rule, but sooner or later the gereral consensus prevails.

Not reef safe at all, but he is fish safe,
I was responding too.

I couldn't imagine my puffer holding his own if not terrorizing a bunch of triggers. He is to happy go lucky and slow.
I've had him for about a year now. He is beautiful.

how big is yours also thought puts in a little more aggresion also?
but still i wouldnt put a dogface in with the anemone after a while he prob. will. I personally wouldt put any inverts in there with him besides hermit crabs and snails (mine also ate those).
But it's your money i guess the only thing i can do is give you some advis.
also remember these are real animals like a dog, cat, horse, or anything like that so

Mine is almost 8 inches now, just eyeballing him. I mean he didn't bother anyone. Lately he has been a bit more fiesty, but only when the wrasse or the sailfin try to steal his food hanging out of his mouth.
In my 180 I have a coral beauty, one velvet damsel, a lunar wrasse, a flame angel, a sailfin, and the dogface. he is the largest fish, by far, so I don't know, I can't imagine the dog face messing with a trigger. I don't think mine can even catch a trigger, he just doesn't swim good enough.

yeah, you can forget inverts, I put them in, and he grins and hunts them down, a could have survived but I've probably put 100 snails and hermits, I see at night maybe 3.

ya the reason i believe hes not that aggresive is because hes the largest predator and really the only predator in that tank.
but they love inverts though

I would hope he would have enough sense not to at this point.

i wouldnt do it...again. I had bought a dog face for my 135 and he was the best. I had also got a sick deal on a bubble annonme and two clowns. The puffer had nibbled on the anenome. It was like a snack every day. Didnt matter how much i feed him. ended up the annonme split and i have one piece still saved from about a year ago. I wouldnt do it. its like a natural thing for them. Also so you know my puffer got very ill from eating the bta and got ick and died. It was very hard and i tried treating him with a medicen from the lfs.
i would suggest you do not do it.
