Pro's
1: they move a lot of water
2: cost is good
3: use very little electricity
4: should last a long long time
Con's
1: Pumps Kind of big
2: They use 1.5" fittings. If you reduce the pipe you reduce the flow A LOT
3: The seals tend to leak. The company blames it on fine sand but I think their full of it. Seals are easy to replace and last about 6-36 months.
I have used an AM3K for about 3.5 years. I had to replace the seal after about 18 months. I like the pumps.

I bought an ampmaster3000 about 1 1/2 months ago so far so good. Even with reduction of the fittings i still moving tons of water. My light fans make more noise than the pump does.
It did come with a rather short electrical lead though, (but in my case that worked out well.)
So far I can say I'm pleased with their pruduct.

Nobody I know buys Iwaki's anymore. They use too much juice and just don't move the water, their great pumps and last forever tho. Check out the Sequence pumps, they cost a bit more but their supposed to be good pumps

Check into a Sedra. They have many sizes to fit alot of water volume needs. Submersible or convertable to external sump configuration, either/or. Quite and semi-compact in size. No oil, very low watts & Out performs Mag, Rio, or Eheim. A FULL TWO YEAR WARRANTY also helps ;) I've had 1 running my system for over 2 1/2 years without any problems to mention.
