that is the title of a book i had when i was a kid. it's one of the books that got me interested in veterinary medicine.
...and the answer is; they don't know.

Have you read "if wishes were horses"? (I think that's what it's called)
I don't know if they dream - they certainly don't "sleep" like we do.
Maybe they dream in short bursts.

Yes they do!
Intense research has led me to the conclussion.
I watch my dog and he is a mammel, and he dreams, therefore there is only one logical conclusion.

We're animals too, so it dolphins and humans. But seriously other animals won't "engage" unless the time is right. That doesn't however mean that they don't enjoy it...it just means that they don't do it TO enjoy it. Believe me, you'll see a grin on some animals.

If dolphins do dream, they must do it in pieces since they sleep with one side of the brain, while the other side remains awake to control breathing and "sleep" swimming.
