I have no clue why im so bummed about this, but i decided to treat my cleanup crew by adding extra mysis/plankton frozen a few days ago. I have a finiky anthias and mandarin so on the days following I added a little extra food to make sure that some got to them. I came home today to find my brain shriveled up some and expelling waste (which is fine cuz he ate a lot too) I tested my water and my amonia is at .2. Not so bad guess I'll do a water chage. Nope try again yer out of salt and its 10:30 :(. Sigh. Im scared im gonna lose stuff even though its all looking fine except my brain. oh well live and learn. live and learn. There anything else IO can do until I get home tomarrow night :(

Need to be careful on the frozen foods, did you test for phosphates to? Frozen foods often carry unwanted phosphates. Double check to see if all snails and crabs accounted for?
Lets hope its a small spike and your system can handle it, keeping fingers crossed for ya.

If it doesn't clear up on its own which a good system can do then amquel i've heard can be used in an emergency to kill ammonia.

How big of a water change should I do tomarrow and should this spike end quickly? I;ve had this tank sine mid november of 02 and I really havent had any major problems yet, minus going too fast around xmas time and losing things. I really have good filtration I think (magnum 350 w/ 2 biowheels, 65+ lbs LR, 4 in DSB, 2 1140 emperor PH, and a seaclone 150). This should subside quickly right?

if you got rid of the source of the ammonia or the cleaners did then it should clear up fairly quickly. You have loads of bacteria in your tank for that stuff. OH YEAH....Something called biozyme might help too, or cycle for saltwater mind you.... Its beneficial bacteria that you can add to your tank. It won't hurt anything and you can super dose it for situations like yours.
