If you do then the splashing will expose it to air and will kill it.

If they are properly shipped the bag would be completely full and the water would be super oxygenated. I have had sveral shipped without issue. All sponges that are in the pet stores or at online retailers were shipped.

I've shipped sponges countless times.
just dont leave air in the bag.

I've shipped several sponges and I just make sure there's no air inside the bag.
