Ok i have 2 condylactis anemones and before i knew u had to get the right lighting i bot them but they are both doing fine and look great all u guys that told me about lighting are probably right just wanted to know why they are living thanks and here is some pics of them

well i would like to know the answer to yurr question cus im thinkin of gettin an anemone but dont wanna spend alot of money on a light

What color are the tentacles of the anemones? How long have you had them? What kind of lighting do you have?

for both each tenacle is about 2 and a half inches one of the anenemoes is white with purple tips and the other is purpleish and greenish i cant really tell and i have had them for almost 2 months

i'd like to see ur anemones too because i want to get some and i have a coralife fixture thats 130 watts on a 30 galleon and everyone i talk to says thats enough for a bubble tip anemone so if it is can someone please tell me once and for all:joy:

go to browse at the Attach file part of a reply screen then find the image. after u have found it just click on it and then submit reply and make sure the file is in the file window(next to the browse button). if it says its to big just email it to who ever asks for the picture. I'd like to see the anemones so my email(in case u need it) is hiddenicons87@peoplepc.com

ok sounds cool. what type of lighting did u have on the 30 galleon and is that the tank with the anemones in it?

Anemone's get their energy from the light from a symbiotic algea on their tentacles called zooxanthelae. The zooxanthelae are brown colored. Absence of the algea is called bleaching, where the anemone does not have the brown tint anymore. Your two anemones sound bleached to me. Anemones can, however, survive with inadequate lighting for some time, but usually would die much before a year has passed. Also with inadequate lighting out feedings must be stepped up to like 3-5 times a week for it to get the energy lost from the photosynthesis.
