Dosing Kalkwasser

Can somebody tell me exactly how to add Kalkwasser to my 55 gallon tank? I know you are supposed to add it in your tank one drip at a time. I dont have a dosing mechanism so if somebody could tell me how to make a DIY model out of something cheap or if somebody could recommend a cheap brand that i could possibly buy on the internet i would appreciate it. Thanks

I made a cheapo gravity drip doser for $1.50. Thats right, one dollar and fifty cents. Check out my home page http://www.angelfire.com/ma3/sshorem
What I did was get a right angle needle valve at Home Depot, one side is threaded the other side is a compression fitting. I screwed the threaded end into a soda bottle cap, put a piece of air hose on the compression end, and put the cap back on the soda bottle. I also made a small hole in the soda bottle to let air in and assist with the drip. Not fancy but it works. I use about 2/3rd of a cup of KW in my 44 gal tank every other day and that seems to wrok fine.
Good luck

SSHOREM,...
Is there a source for small needle valves that are made out of plastic?
I'm in need of one to use for this very reason.
I've been told y locals that brass and other metals except titanium is possibly harmful to reef tank.
Which this hold true for this use also,.. or does it take saltwater to bring out the bad in the metal?

I suppose there is a chance of some small amounts of metalic elements getting into the tank but I am not overy concerned. You could also use if you want just a plastic air tubing valve. I am also sure if I search the web long enough I could find a manafacturer of plastic valves. I do not leave any fluid in the bottle. I only put in one dose at a time drip it in over night and then rinse it out in the AM.

Well, i went to Home Depot today to try and find that part you were talking about. I even showed the guy the picture from your homepage. He took me to the plumbing section and showed me a different sizes of the same part. Can you tell me exactly what size this part is or give me more details on it? Thanks

I have to go to Home Depot in the next couple of days. I will get the exact part name and description, the part number, and even the SKU. I do know its a 3/8 inch compression fitting. I will also take a close up picture for you and put in on the web page

i just spent $1.83 for my Kalkwasser dripper. This is what i did:
I got a bottle from 99 cents store (optional, you can use any bottle). I got two air valve controller along with 1 foot of air tube. You can get them in any local pet store. I drill a hole on the side of the bottle and insert the air valve controller in and seal it with silicon. Connect the air tubes and control the amount by controlling the two valves.... i have found out that it would cost $35 for one in the pet store.....
