I used to dose kalk with one of those $20 Kent IV things, but just bought a refurbished medical peristaltic dosing pump for $59 deliverd that's just great!
Pros:
  • $59 delivered, $8 for the replacment tubes -every 6 months or so.
  • 10 minutes to setup and get running
  • Adjustable from 5 to 295 ml/hour - a few ounces up to 2 gallons a day
  • Doesn't have to be above the tank or sump- stick the box anywhere and run the tubes
Makes no noise and uses about 5 watts
    Cons:
  • Can't use timer- it has a battery, and you have to push the power button to restart it. Either use it 24/7, or manually turn it on/off for night use.
Alarm- 5 minutes with a screwdriver and the snips took care of the audio alarm- I don't want to know my tube is clogged at 3:00am
Very happy with this. Its cheap, easy, and I didn't have to go out on a date with it first :)

Sounds pretty cool.
If you can take it apart without too much trouble, you might be able to bypass the manual switch circuit ( just connect the 2 wires of going to the switch, and maybe run the battery wires to a timer.
Then you could have it operate on a timer as well.
May have to look into one of these ;)
