Downloading videos

Does anyone know of a good program to download videos? I don't really like Youtube. I have real player but the video comes out choppy. I am basically just looking to download videos off of my camera onto a program that runs it properly, that I can send to people, but not for the entire world to see. Thanks

It works great. You don't download or purchase anything. You just up load your files, email the link to friends and you are good to go. I keep my account set private so the general population cant view it.

Maybe I am doing something wrong here. I started an account and am trying to upload off of my memory card. I clicked on Albums and Upload. Clicked Choose Files, selected one of my videos, it says it must be under 100 MB. How do I shrink the file? These videos are not long. They range from a couple of minutes up to about 15. I tried the shortest and it is too large as well.

Video files get really big really fast, especially if they are high resolution.
If you have Windows Movie Maker you can cut the vids into segments and upload them in bulk.

No, I don't. That is why I posted this to begin with. I just have real player. The videos come out very choppy on there. Is there another program that I should try?

Hmmm... you might google "Free video editing software" and see if you can find something.
You can set videos to "private only" on Youtube (so the whole world doesn't see) FYI if that helps.

I have a Youtube account. From what I saw it didn't look too private, even set on private. Is it though? Can you still send the link to those that you want to see it?

I haven't tried it myself, just noticed that "private" was an option. Sorry...
This is when having your own domain comes in real handy!

Yeah, Private is an option but I don't trust that it is private.
LOL Well I don't have my own domain, but it sure would be handy about now

Someone must know how to do this.

If you don't want to hack up the videos and just send the raw file, there's megaupload.com. Maximum file size is 1024MB, or essentially, a gig sized file.

You can save them from there, or is that to shrink them down? How good is it?

LOL... I would never have guessed... I think it's the "Sir Quizzy" but then again this is the internet. One of my other handles is "Animal Mother" so I always get "I thought you were a WOMAN!" when I meet people in person.

Yea, once you finish uploading the video, it will give you a link. Email, IM, whatever that link to anybody you want. They will be able to download the video then, as oppose to just being able to watch it, like on youtube or photobucket.
They don't compress the file at all, everything is original quality.
I guess one concern would be who you sent the link too, as now that person has your video saved onto their computer. Though if there's nothing to worry about....

Sir Quizzy is the name of the feisty little hawk in my avatar. I got that a lot though when I first changed my caption to "Sir Quizzy" . It is perfectly understandable

If you want a good video player, there is nothing better or more simple, for free, then VLC media player.
Thank you so much. I will try this one and see how it works out. You wouldn't think it would be so hard to find a program that does not publish to the world
