Hello,
I picked up a Dragon Moray at a local shop. I put him in my 135 gal reef tank and he immediately went for a blonde nasso tang (2.5"). I was able to get him to let go but the tang died two days later. I moved him to my 55 gal tank with lots of macro algae and two green cromis damsels, thinking he wouldn't be able to catch them, I tried and couldnt with two nets. Boy was I wrong, they disappeared withing a week. Anyway, I cant keep him any longer. He is in good shape, over 12" long and the body is 3/4" with 1/2" top fin. It cost me $750. Is there anyone out there interested in one? Go to *****.com and see what they sell this fish for! The book "The Conscientious Marine Aquarist", states that this is a hardy species and although expensive they are worth it. This books is one of four that I have and is by far the most conservative when recomending fish for your tank. Also visit http://www.sheddaquarium.org/sea/fact_sheets.cfm?id=84 which indicates that this species is currently at a stable collection level for the marine aquarist industry. It will require a larger tank as it can grow to 36" in length, but imagine what it will look like with its awsome teeth and great colors! As you can see I did my research but my wife says it must go and she wants me to make the tank he is in into a an anemone tank. It is in our dining room and currently is a little ominus for friends to see his gaping mouth full of teeth peering at them during dinner.
