Hey guys has anyone put a mand. drag. in a small tank like a 10 gal? If so did it do ok? They say you should keep one in a tank smaller than a 30 gallon.

That is incorrect. Mandarins need tanks with at LEAST 100 pounds of LR because they eat only pods. Very, very few mandarins will accept prepared foods.

I had a mandarin for about six months, he did eat some forzen foods but not enough to sustain him, I endded up giving him to someone who had a 180 gal tank because he was getting thin.
I haev a 10 gal, with a pair of percula clowns and a bicolor blennie. the clowns are very nice, they have big personalities. i had a sixline wrasse in there as well but i move him out this week, he was becoming agressive and ithink he was simply too active for the small tank.
Jaw fish are fun, if you get a semi-outgoing one...I had one untill the bottom of my tank fell through and he was sucked out with the sand, I couldnt find him fast enough to safe him
he was a lot of fun, he would gather shells and build a fortress and get so angry when the shells that had hermits in them crawled away! you do need a deep sandbed for them to burrow in.
Hope you find something cool to stock with :happyfish

I have some mushrooms, poylps, and zoos coming. They are supposed to be here wed.
I'm just trying to figure out what fish would be cool. I do like clowns but I have a percula in my big tank. And I want something new and different.

Hello, here is a few fish that could fit in a 10 gallon:
-firefish
-True/or False Percula clownfish
-jawfish
-cardinals
-damsels(I wouldnt)
-various types of gobies
-various types of Blennies
-royal gramma
I would get about 2 fish, 3 would prolly be pushing it

I like this list except for the Royal Gramma, they need a 30g tank. I like the cardnials.

Lets see here, If you ask anyone on this site they will say that a royal gramma is perfectly fine for a 10 gallon, I'm not a member of this site just to argue I am just trying to help Kronnk7 find some fish to put in a 10 gallon. Please excuse me if you take this thread the wrong way.

this is also incorrect..mandarins need a pod population equal to 100lbs of live rock. this can be supplimented with a properly stocked mature refugium....

Thanks guys, the fish list is cool. I was thinking about a firefish and a jawfish. But I looked around on some info sites and I couldn't find out if they would be ok together. Does anyone know if those two would be ok together? I also found out about the mandrian right after I posted the first thread. I meant to say you could not keep one in a tank smaller than a 29 gallon.

i heard they need at least 75 gallons tanks and need 1.5-2 pounds of rock per gallon and 6 month old tanks with refugiums and tons of pods
