Hi I am new to this site. I would like an answer to my question. Everyone I have talked to doesnt know. they never tried to keep them together.
Can a green Dragonet be kept with a scooter goby?
Both are called gobies in the store, but dragonets on this site. They eat the same things and just seem a differant color. I just bought a green dragonet, and would like to add a scooter. (not right away) I have a 75 Gallon Saltwater tank with live rock. Established June of 06
My list of fish:

Green dragonet
Royal Gramma
Blue Hippo Tang
Yellow angel
2 clown fish (Nemo)
2 Serpent stars
Sand sifting goby

Not recomended beacuase of the amount of pods that both require to survive. The scooter has been known to accept some frozen foods so it is not as dependant on copepods as the manderine is. What will happen is the manderine will slowly starve to death, average time is 6 months. They can eat hundreds in a single day.
I have about 85 pounds of rock with a scooter and a manderine and have to get rid of my manderine because i dont want it to die due to lack of food.
If you have a refugium your manderine stands a better chance of survival.
But only one of those creature's will work for you.

I seed my tank every 3 to 5 months with copepods, around 400 each time.
I don't know anything about a refugium. Can I breed my own copepods??? I have an extra 10 gallon tank, can you offer any info? How do I start and what do I need etc...
Thank you so much for your time

Diamond gobys do not eat pods... if your tank has been estabilished for about a year a manderin should do ok in yours.

You might be ok I am assuming you are talking about a scooter blenny right? They are pod eaters. Depending on the amount of LR you have it might work for you. But setting up a refugium would be the way to go IMO.

Mine shifts any of the food that falls to sand level. In addition, he will swim up to catch some mysis or plankton when I first add food to the tank. PerfectDark is correct in that their main source of calories is not copepods.

Mandarins need an established tank with 100 plus lbs of LR and a fuge for the copods to breed. That said, do not add a scooter that is same --- as the mandrin, they will fight.

Hi every one,
How do I set up a refugium? I have a golden headed sandsifter goby not a diamond goby. They are the same I think, just a differant color.
I also have the mandarian so I want to know how often to seed the tank w/ copepods or how do I set up a refugium.
I have a 75 gallon tank w/ about 100 lbs of live rock. Established in June of 06
I have moon lights but I still don't see my serpent sea stars, I have 2, any ideas as to how to entice them from deep within the rock once in a while? I see a leg every now and again.
Thanks for your time
