Dragonfish that became agressive

2My daughter had a dragonfish in a tank with 2 other compatable fish and a algea eater fish. The Dragon fish was being fed ghost fish and other suggested for for a dragon fish. As has been noted, they prefer to hide and the tank had lots of foliage and different places to hide, so he seemed just fine in the tank for about 3 weeks. Then one night my grandson just reached in amd moved a rock that was in the tank and the Violet Gobie was under it. But the people at the pet store have to move these things all the time and even though the Dragon fish scatter when there hiding place is moved they do settle down. Well ours didn't settle down. It swam all over that tank, up and down. bashing into the other fish, attacking, I guess (but I thought they were peaceful so I just thought being they don't see well it was just bumping them. It acted as if we had harmed it, but we really were sure we hadn't. It kept coming straight at me it the tank as if to get out of the tank and was going to the top and trying to get out, but they the tank covered properly. I thought well its just disturbed for the evening and will settle down, but the next morning it was still moving about, bashing into the other fish. But it seem a bit quieter. I didn't know it was actually biting the other fish or I would have removed it to another place. I thought it was just running into the other fish being everything I have read says they are peaceful. Well we had to go away for the night and when my daughter's family returned, the dragonfish had killed all the other fish. 2 buggied goldfish, and one algea eater. We just don't understand being she had a filter and not too many fish in the tank for its size, what made this fish go so aggressive over just a rock being moved. I could still see some of the ghost shrimp fish that they like swimming about, so there was food there for him. Our question is. have you heard of a dragonfish acting like this b4 over just one movement of a rock that it was under. I see them move thier rocks all the time in the fish stores. But they don't go attacking the other fish, they just settle back down. It actually lived in the tank about 2 more weeks continually trying to get out and hitting the lid. And there was still food in the water and now no other fish for it to attack. What, if anything did we do, or is this normal if its just one fish alone like that, to get all freiked out and kill the other fish. Whew. We won't ever put one with the others again. So why didn't it ever settle down and hide in the foliage as it had in the when they first got it. Everyone I have talked to says they never heard of a dragon fish doing that. It seem it was missing something. But we don't know what. Any ideas? We are stumped.

Is the tank Fresh, Brackish or Salt and how established was it ? The G. broussonettii is normally peacefull. Could have just shocked it but stange if it did attack the others.

How big is this tank?
It is definitely not good to reach in these tanks at night. That can disturb fish. Also it is different at the fish store because those fish are not in established tanks with "homes" if you will...so they behave differently at the store.
But to let you know this is a saltwater board and so help here will be limited :)
