I am setting up my 180 and need help with the drain tubing. I am using just normanl tubing you get a homedepot. But I want the tubing to be up against the wall so it doesnt take up as much space. Like if I just let it sit in the sump it is like bent up. So can I use silicone to glue them to the back of the glass of the sump? Here are pix of what it is like now and what I want it to look like

Are you sure your going to want them that far under the water? anyways, you should be able to heat and shape those however you want. If you have a propane torch, or a heat gun, or you can even put them in the oven for a little while....but watch 'em closely. The silicone will probably work. I just think your going to end up shortening them some.

I like to use the spa tube that the depot has exclusively. You glue it in the same manner as pvc and it looks much better as well.

I tried that tubing you have and it doesn't do a good job. It comes out the sump and is not that easy to work with. I would get the spa tubing or hard plumb it in. I wouldn't glue anything the back of the sump, what if you need to move the sump, then you a really PIA on your hands.

I usually end up having to use a mixture of pvc pipe and spa tube to get it to do what I want... The stuff you are currently using needs to be trashed in my opinion.

The tubing itself is fine, as long as you handle/use it correctly. It will also grow algae etc inside of it if subjected to light.

Went to my LFS today and got some different type of tubing. Its black and super thick. They said people use it on ponds? It works great.

silicon pvc inlets to the corners and just hook up the hose to the pvc :p
Only way to go for most. Just use the Primer for pvc first on the fitting to ensure the silicone will adhear to the pvc fitting
