drain/return question

i have a 58g tank with built in overflow, the problem i am having is i cant keep the overflow area full, and it is quite noisy, anyway i can fix this?

i swapped the perferated tube that came with the tank with a 1" pvc pipe and the drain couldn'e keep up with the return pump

Your return pump is to large for the system. It has to match the overflow drain.

1" drain can only drain 600gph. what size pump do you have? Search for durso stand pipe this will quite the the noise pf the water draining.

i have blue line pump rated at 590 gph, i think i am gonna go with the durso standpipe, thanks for the replies

Are you sure its a 1" ID (inner diameter) pipe? Maybe something got in there thats blocking it?
The higher the stand pipe the less the water has to fall and the less waterfall noise. The durso will stop the drain (toilet flushing) noise.
