Dried seaweed for fish food.

I know a lot of people feed Nori sheets for their tangs and other algae eaters, but I find that my tang tends to tear it to shreds and small pieces tend to float everywhere.
So I figured I'd try something different. It is dried seaweed, called Wakame, and it comes in small pieces that expand in water and it looks just like a piece of green seaweed and it tougher than the Nori in water.
Has any one else used this? My tang, blue damsel, and my bicolor blenny all seemed to like it. I am just concerned that they get proper nutrition.

Well the fish really seem to like it, but my yellow tang goes crazy for pretty much anything green.
I imagine it is healthier for the fish compared to lettuce or spinach since it is actual seaweed and it doesn't fall apart like the Nori sheets.

My LMB tears into nori sheets too...
So today I tried taking a rather thin piece and doubling it over a few times (thickening it) and then clipping it in the tank. As usual he can fluttering out and started tearing the crap out of the sheet but it seemed to allow him to pull small pieces off without damaging the stability of the entire sheet. I only got 2 small pieces that came loose during the feeding... and a blue leg and a shrimp ended up nabbing them before they polluted the tank.
In short if you want to try nori again due to diet worries keeping a thick piece close to a veggie clip tends to hold better than a thin strip that gets torn to pieces.
But then again the dried seaweed might be just as good... i guess check the nutritional values on both and compare.

Ito-Wakame seaweed is exceptionally nutritious for the fish. It is human grade quality. My fish love the stuff. I also buy the sushi grade seaweed from the local asian food store....you can save big bucks, and buy twice the amount.

just get yourself a good cleanup crew and they will chomp whatever hit the sand, just try not to overfeed the tank if your not already doing so.
