So im thinking about getting a return drilled into the back of my 65 gal glass tank, and im going to have a glass shop drill it here in town. So my question is what are the chances of the glass breaking while they are drilling it. Also they do NOT Guaranty any drilling performed on glass.
Is there another way of running a return with locline with out drilling the tank?

you can do an over the top return if you wish,, just put it in , start the siphon and shes good to go. just make sure you drill a small hole for siphon break.. if its tempered glass on your tank it will shatter, which most tanks are made of.. if not then you will be o.k

It'w been crazy busy aroung here for a few months, projects galore(home remodeling etc.), and some summer vactation time in there too. You know. Then just recently my PC gave out on me, in my mad dash to get a new one( business records on it, so it was important), I've lost most the addies I had too!. Here's mine, let me know when you get it so I can delete it.
I'll bump up the 55 gal, project so yopu can see what we're doing there.

I know many people that have had tanks drilled. I never heard of one breaking. I really wish that I had both of my tanks drilled. I hate the large overflow boxes that hang on the back. Also if you are having a professional do the drill I would say that you would be fine. Also only the bottom of the tanks are tempered glass. You would want them to drill through the back.

drillign a tank isnt very hard if you have the right diamond bit.. there was a great tutorial on here as well... basically cut the bottom of a solo cup , tape it to the tank where its going to be drilled, fill the cut cup with water, drop the bit in the hole and drill away.. easy to do... thats how i always did it as well..
