Drilling Glass

Can you drill a glass aquarium? Reason being, I was only able to fit a 10g through the doors of my stand, but have room for another. I was thinking of plumbing 2 together to make room for a skimmer.

Yeah it can be done. You need a specoal bit that will cost 20-30 bucks. Yyou would have a much easier time picking up 2 acrylic 10 gallons for $7 each and drilling them with a hole saw.

Hey Indy1, if you still want to drill glass, make sure the pane you are drilling isn't tempered (look for a sticker or call the manufacturer),
in addition to the bit, when I worked at an lfs, we used a ring, I think it was rubber, around where we were going to drill the hole and we filled it with a liquid before drilling. I know this is vague but it was a few years back now. Maybe someone who works at one now can fill in the blanks. Or I can try to find out for you can get back to you.

Drilling glass is very hard to do especialy when its thin, like a ten gallon tank. becarfull

Some glass stores will drill it for you but they usually do not warranty against breaking when they drill glass that they did not sell.
