Dry live rock@lfs?

There is a tank at the LFS that is full of live rock but it is half full of water (which means half of the rock is sticking out of water). This tank has no circulation at all and has not been touched in at least a month. Why? I don't. But I have been watching this tank ( in the back corner of the store) and nobody pays any attention to it. There is no sign of life that I can see besides all green algea. I have watched this for at least 2 months now. Is this rock any good?? Would it be a wise decision on my part to buy it all at a very cheap price? Because it looks like s@*t and that is the way I would present it when I offer them next to nothing to buy it all. If I would buy it will it come back?

If anything, I would consider it as possible base rock if you really like the size and shape of the pieces. I would say there is nothing "alive" of any value, it probably would need to be scrubbed and left to dry out before putting it in your tank, unless you like that algae look!! Good Luck!

No, Like I said it looks like s!&t. I do not like the look at all, I was just wondering if I could bring it back to life and save myself some $.

If your wondering if you could use it as baserock, probably. But I would like to know what type of rock it is, I would ask. I would agree with dsa_mom about maybe soaking the heck out of it first with a ton of water circulation, then scrubbing and drying it out. If you ask about this at your lfs let us know what price they ask before you purchase it. It could be from some pond you never know. Ask if it is calcium carbonate based.
Thomas.

I think you can. I bought some base rock at my LFS that had been sitting out of water totaly for a week. Now I have life flourishing. If all else you LR you have now should help it regenerate back. However since things may be dead on it then it regenerates it could cause a cycle. IMO

There is a hand written sign on the tank glass that says $9.99#. Not worth the ink it is wrote with by the way the rock looks. That is why I wondered if it was any good.
