DSB with all glass overflow question

Here is another question from me.. WOW thats 2 today.
I have a 180 gallon all glass aquarium. It has 2 corner overflows. On the top are slits to allow the water over the top while not allowing fish over. Now to the meat of the question. On my overrflows, on the bottom are the same thing. This (supposidly) allows water to come up from the bottom allowing better flow and quieter operation.
I am currently not running a DSB because of this. If their is anyone out there with this problem handeled or if there is anyone who knows how to run this DSB with the holes and not sucking up sand from the corners, Please let me know.
PS. putting it in the sump is not an option at this point..
Thanks.

I have the same setup, Just make sure your sand level is 1/2" below the bottom cut outs and you will be fine, mine did suck in sand until the space betweent the two walls filled to level with the bottom of the bottom holes. Runs great now.
