In my fuge I have one Giant turbo snail to help with the algae build up and maybe you could invest on getting some pods, they consume detrius! Do you have chaeto or caluerpa in your fuge or some pieces of Live Rock for your pods to live in?

that's all? I mean people say on here that they aren't big fans of DSB unless they are properly stocked? I am not sure what that means? This is all I need to have a DSB in my fuge?

I love my DSB.. it's in my display as well as my refugium.
Worms, pods, small stars and crabs etc. all will live in it. These tiny creatures come in from good "live" sand as well as live rock.
Three things are key to maintaining it: 1. Start it right. Get some good sand and rock to seed it and then let your aquarium remain fallow for a couple of weeks to allow the critters time to get going. 2. Proper water flow across your sand bed. 3. Sand "shifting" critters such as Nass. snails but NOT sand "sifting" creatures that will eat all of your beneficial animals.

,
In you refuigum, people have two different kinds, #1 Live sand, caulerpa, or chaeto, some people frown on the caulerpa ecause it goes sexual and can pollite your tank while others say you can control that with some monitoring and trimming before it does, and a piece of live rock, While IN my case i went with the miracle mudd, Chaetomorpha Algae, Red Gracileria algae, PODS, Bristle worms that automatically showed up, and i threw in a giant turbo snail to try yo control the grenn algae growth, and thats it.. The pods and bristle worms will take care of any detrius that happens to make it in there PAST my skimmer!

Chaeto is the stuff people don't like for the sexual stuff that kills the tank?
