is a dsb ok for a reef tank or must it be ls <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />

i was always under the impression that the intent of a dsb was to create a living environment for denitrifying bacteria and other organisms. if this is not your intent, be careful not to use silica-based sand as it can raise silica levels in your tank and cause chronic diatom blooms. hope this helps...
