Ok beet me about the head and neck but I can't seem to find what DSB stands for I searched and all I get is DSB DSB DSB DSB DSB DSB........ My tank currently has 20lbs of LS and 20 of CC with 50lbs of LR, but I'm setting up a second tank (which is being installed into the bar in my basment) and i want the best of everything for it so there is not as much work to clean. Thank in advance for any help.

DSB = Deep Sand Bed
A 3" to 5" bed of fine grain sand which helps in reducing nitrates by allowing anerobic bacteria to flourish which feeds on nitrates.

for the 75 gal. you will probably need about 100-140 lbs of Sand to get a DSB.. I could be wrong, but there are places where you can calculate this...
Someone correct me if I am wrong...!

To calculate amount of LS:
LS(lbs)= {L x W x Ht}/14
Ht=depth of sand desired
14= constant for aragonite sand
Ex: your tank width is 20 inches, length is 48 inches, you like to have 5 inche deep sand,
(48 x 20 x 5)/14= 343 lbs

you can add the sand to your fish tank
but its a pain. when i did it i had to
move my fish and corals to another tank.
my biggest mistake was not taking enough
water out, when i put my sand in my water
got really messy.
if you are going to be setting up another
tank you are better of doing it that way
and setting it up right from the start.
good luck
