Dual 250s on a lps softie tank

for a softy tank i think it is over kill and id go with the 175s...

I've never been a softy guy (well, maybe some Xenia) but I have had tons of LPS. My LPS did better under PC's then MH's, Or maybe I should say looked better....... Under the lower light they expanded more, with the stonger MH lighting they don't need to expand as much so they don't look as good.

I kinda lost this thread. This is for a friend as you probably know. He is wanting to keep just maybe a couple lps and polyps etc. I kinda thought the 250s would be best, then if he wanted sps he could always jump into that, without upgrading the lighting. What about a single 400 about a foot off the water. Would it cover pretty well at the bottom of the tank?
