dual satellite question (salt build up)

Hi,
I have a Daul Satellite on my tank and I get so much salt build up that I can't slide out the plastic cover to clean it. I am sure I am not the only one with this problem and someone has a tip to get it off. Please help.
I am torn, beacuse I was told not to put a glass cover on the tank because it deflects the needed rays of the light, but if I had a cover I would not have all this salt build up.

Typical maintenance for my Lighting too. Mine has to be done every few days. What i like is that I can bend the plastic in my sink and run a wet cloth over it. Then use a dry cloth to dry it.

just a wet cloth around the edges til the salt loosens up should work.

I worked it for a long time today. What I finally did was get something called "Lime Away" at the supermarket. It disolved the salt in 30 seconds. What a great product.

Make sure you wipe the lights everywhere you sprayed the limeaway. If the lights get splashed they could drip some of the chemicals from the limeaway back into the tank.

I wipe mine with vinager. i am thinking of buying spay stuff for salt creep to help keep lights clean.

i took my lights apart at ends and had to pry my cover out. will clean more regularly from now on

I spoke to the company. They said by having a glass cover on the tank, you will only loose about 5% of the needed rays. They say there should be a cover on the tank and you will not have these problems
