Dumb dsb ?

Hi,just added a dsb to my tank a week ago and I have a dumb ? I have 8 hermit crabs in the tank it's a 135 as the crabs move around the create a little cloud behind them,I guess my ? is does the sand ever settle down and not do this?I used southdown.I also want to add power heads but I am afraid the tank will look like the dessert during a sand storm.Will this happen?

more waterflow will cause the sand to "storm"... but in time (like everything else in the hobby) will "fix" the problem... I must have replaced my filter in the w/d every week after i put in my DSB. after a few weeks, it should settle down... IMO i would actually agitate it and aim my waterflow at the sand bed... let as much fine sand find its way into a filter.... best to do it now before you start adding alot of livestock to your tank.
also, get a turkey baster... you may find yourself blowing the sand off your rocks every now and then. and its very usefull for all around tank stuff.

glad to know i'm finally going in the right direction.Foer now i only have about 25#'s of lr right now.Yes i do have a turkey baster and i think every one should have this useful tool
