Dumb question?

This is probably a dumb question, but I was wondering if you can use water (city water) filtered through a "Brita" filter for a reef tank? I have been looking at the prices of RO water at the grocery store ($1.00 a gallon) and the price of the filter they want to sell me at the LFS and got to wondering if that would work...
We have one, but i imagine that it does not filter out the right thigns for a reef tank?
I know it probably won't work, but i just had to ask...
Any ideas on this?
Thanks.....
Joe

When you ask a question you are only dumb for a few seconds, if you never asked the question you are dumb for a lifetime.
Anyway without alot of detail no the Brita will not be as good as RO water.
Many people here use an RO/DI unit.
I get my water from a vending machine for $.25 a gallon.

WAL MART! .25 a gallon. I have been using both a britta and RO water, either is good. To make absolutely sure that the water is good let it sit for a few hours, any chlorine (not that there will be any) will be evaporated out of the water by then
