duncan questions

I found a guy close to where i live willing to frag a few duncan heads for me for 5$ a head and i think its a really good deal so i was going to possibly buy it. I heard they are pretty easy to care for and they grow well. I have a 5.5 gallon nano that is about 2 months old. So far so good and i haven't run into any problems. I have the 9" 18 watt coralife lights over it and dose kent marine coral accel and phytoplex. Would i be able to successfully keep this coral in my tank? Thank you : D

duncans r very easy. they can thrive from low to high lighting. no need to dose anything. just feed it 2x a week.

They would really like it. But beware. When fed well, they grow/multiply fairly fast.

what do you feed them? Do you have to spot feed something like mysis?
One of my LFS takes a red rosie and feeds the duncan the whole fish!!! Not sure if that a good idea. He also did it with some acans.

You can give your Duncans mysis shrimp, cyclops, krill, Rod's Food, etc. Just make sure the size of food is appropriate for the Duncan or you will overload that small tank with detrus. I use a turkey baster to feed my dendros but you probably can use tweezers.
When you get a chance send me a picture of your tank, even if its just a cell phone pic.

As stated, my duncans love mysis. Mysis are an appropriate size for the average duncanopsammia polyp. Stay away from the large meaty chunks of fish as they will tend to stress the coral out trying to digest it.

Do dose or at least keep an eye on you calcium levels! Duncan are LPS and use a lot of calcium.
