durso standpipe question

Hi I have a 60 gallon tank and the durso standpipe I made according to the instruction from the dursopipe site is too big for my overflow (1 1/4 tee connector + 1 1/4 street-ell is too big). Did anyone have the same problem? and how did you solve it? Did you guys use 1 inches pipe instead? If so how does it effect the performance.Thanks.

just downsize a bit or cut the T to fit, if you get what i mean.. its may restrict some air causing too much return or too much pump.. Im not 100% sure on that statement but you will notice if anythign happens right away..you should be fine though

It is not just a little too big. I have a standard overflow box and the tee and street-ell fill up the whole overfow, so it is off by about 1 inches. So I don't think I can just cut the tee a little bit

Thanks for the reply. You use one inch pvc pipe? how strong is ur pump from sump into the DT? in durso's page, he said that 1 inch pipe won't work unless it is a much lower flow, so just wondering what is ur pump gph rate.
Also I tried heating it over the stove and bending it, don't know about 1 inch pipe, but it is really hard to bend 1 1/4 pipe. Did you use a torch or just heat it over the stove? Thanks again.
ameno, thanks for suggesting stockman pipe, I will look into it if durso one doesn't work out.

I used 1"PVC for a 1" bulkhead. Honestly I don't understand why 1.25" is nessasary for a 1" BH. Your flow is based on the narrowest opening to drain water. So 1.25" doesn't allow any more water to flow through. A 1" BH is a 1" BH.........
If you want to bend PVC, Cap one end and fill with sand and then cap it. Heat evenly using torch or gas stove and bend.....

i used 1" PVC for my stand pipe. my return pump is a RIO 20HF. i have a 4'
head on it and according to the manufactures specifications it says that i have a 900GHP flow. i had to throttle the pump back about 1/2 way so that i could get rid of the micro bubbles in my tank. so i belive that i have about 450GPH from my return pump. im not too worried about there not being enough flow because i picked up a Hydor Koralia #2 with a 600GPH flow rating and i plan on investing in one more of them.

i used my stove to heat it and bend it. as for heating it over the stove i used schedual 26 PVC so it was thinner then schedual 40 PVC(ie. easier to bend). you may need to try this also.
i know that on Durso's site it says that 1" wont work but i used it no problem and it is very quiet

Yea the stockman was made for smaller spaces and works on the same principle as the dursco. I'm bulding one now for my 1.5" drain
