Hey ya'll, one of my feather dusters has left his tube. Last week he shed his crown. This morning he has laying on the bottom. He seems to be alive...I think. What should I do?
Well I would cover him very lightly with the substrate just so passing fish and inverts dont eat him.
He will regrow is tube. I have one that is in my substrate and seems very happy. Every once in awhile I uncover him. He is regrowing his tube very slowly.
I had one do the same thing. But that is because my kids put pennies in the refugium and I did not know it for a while. I was wondering why all my corals and snails died. I saw the feather duster fall out of the tube and it disappeared under the rocks. Then about two months later I saw it in the back of the tank. Still alive and it had a tube. Blew me away. Very expensive lesson. Don't let your kids near the tank.
very expensive lesson. Lost everything but the fish. It was a very slow process. Things just slowly died. Thankfully, the LFS is really good here in Dayton OH and they ruled out everything and kept asking about copper. I finally looked and there were 3 pennies in the tank.
Well my duster wasn't so lucky. I thought he was in a secure place, but he didn't make it. We fished him out a few hours ago. My other duster is doing fine. I bought a reef package and these two dusters were part of the package. I believe the one that died might have been old. His tube was about 5-6 long, and the other is about 3-4. Who knows what happened?
