Don't beat yourself up about it. Whenever I told my LFS I had a dwarf lionfish they asked me how long(3 months), then congradulated me on being able to keep it alive that long, saying most live less than a month. I have heard this from more than one of my LFS.
I ordered a Radiatta Lionfish that I fell in love with but it died at the LFS 2 days after it arrived, before I was able to pick it up(thankfully... saved me $40). If they can't even keep it alive then I doubt I can (well, that depends on which LFS, lol). I will likely try one again someday when my Black Volitan outgrows my 75.
Anyway, if you really liked the fish try another one again sometime, be sure to quarantine it so it doesn't disease your tank if it's sick and maybe order it online from a site that has a 14 day guarantee incase it doens't make it.

My first dwarf lion died the night I got him. I learned you need to acclimate those bad boys for a long time. Once acclimated right I put him in and I haven't had a problem since. He is 2x the size i got him at least and he definitely is doing ok. I've had him since June.. He won't eat krill but he sucks down mysis shrimp.
Don't give up hope, losses happen. We lost our saddle back clown fish, he got ick, then popeye, and I treated him in a QT tank for 2 weeks, eyes went back in, he was eating and swimming around, didn't have any problems. I was actually going to throw him back in the Display tank when i got home and he was dead when i got there. No idea what happened.

Fuzzy Dwarf lions are pretty resiliant in my opinion. I've had mine for close to 9 months and he's been through a lot and has been very strong. Some of the stuff he went through: being in the shipping bag in the cold for over 48hrs, being stuck in a smallish tank with an agressive emperor angel, didn't want to eat frozen food for a good 3 months, was in a tank with ich and then put in QT and went through hypo. Through all this and he's grown and is perfectly fine and happy. So don't give up. If it's healthy to begin with and you provide good conditions and food, it'll be fine.
