Lionfish are cool... eh!!
A lot of people will tell you not to feed live fish, and there are a lot of good reasons for that, but I'll let them tell you.
Having said that, I'll say that I do feed live fish, BUT NOT ALL THE TIME. They need a varied diet with a lot more nutrition than feeder fish provide.
Frozen Krill (thawed) and squid chunks the kind that are "enriched"make up the bulk of my fish' diet.I also "soak them" in Selcon,Zoe and or Multi-vit befor feeding.
But throwing in a live fish from time to time is why i got into aggressive.:D
What I do is try to "fatten them up" or "engorge" them with enriched seafood flakes, and the Selcon/zoe/vitamins while I acclimate them to the salt/temp/ph in a small bowl befor I "put them in coach"
However you can get quite an addrenalin rush (as I've learned on this board) by "hand feeding" your Lion pieces of Krill
You should try it!!
disclaimer:eek:pinions may vary

onellion, IMO get him on frozen ASAP. Fresh water fish are not the best diet for saltwater predators. Shrimp, squid, frozen krill give the fish a better diet. I had a fuzzy dwarf for 2 years and had to get rid of him as I was switching over to a trigger tank. He was six inches and a real beauty !! Right now I am keeping a Zebra Lion and a Wasp fish. They are both eating frozen. They are a cool fish. I hope he does well for you :) At the bottom are a couple of pics ;)

You are right , opinions will vary on this. IMO Why temp fate ? I have had the fun of getting tagged by a fuzzy. The pain can safely be classified as unbelievably painfull. The toxin will affect every one differently. I have a friend who ended up in the hopital for a week from a volitan. She had a bad reaction to the toxin. My self was 4 hours of hell and a week of a hand that was super sensitive to hot and cold. But, one thing I have told people is that pain is a great teacher. Do it once and you remember it well !!
I can think of bettter ways to get a rush.

The only way i can feed my lionfish is by hand. He is to slow to eat any other way. I don't think it's tha much of a risk.

i would highly recommend that you go buy a feeding stick and use that instead of your hand you may not think it is a risk but if for some reason he ever felt threatened or you slipped it could happen that is like saying i keep a pit boul or whatever the name of the dog is in my bed room and dont think it is a risk i dont mean to be harsh jmo

Keeping a pitbull in your bedroom would not be a risk. They can be very sweet and loveable dogs. The only reason they are mean is if they are trained to be that way or were mistreated so if you wanna go bashing dog breeds get the facts first.
