I think that might be a bit too small for them but they are not super active swimmers so you might be okay. You may have to start out with ghost shrimp dipped in garlic to get them to eat. I believe they can be somewhat picky. You want to move them toward frozen as soon as they will take it. Make sure they are eating before you leave the LFS.

yea i thought it might be a little small of a tank but im getting a 55gal for christmas
. so im prolly going to have a smaller tank for the clown and a bigger tank for agrresive fish but for now do u think a clown and dwarf lion will be ok?

Not likely. Lions eat anything big enough to fit in their mouths, which can get pretty big. I don't think false percs get very large.

A lion can swallow a fish half the size of their own body. It would not be much of a concern now if the lion were a small one. My fuzzy was about two inches when I got him. The problem would be as the lion grows.

That is not true for saltwater fish, but can be true for fresh. They may be okay for a couple of months if they are both about the same size but any longer than that and you could be in trouble. I would just wait until you have the 55 up and running.

be careful of any fast moving aggressive fish around a lion. lions are not fast or super aggressive even though they are carnivorous. Those poison spines won't always protect them if you get a trigger that wants to pick on them. You could prolly do some sort of dwarf angel like a coral beauty. Any large angel is too small for a 55. You could also do an eel of some sort if you wanted. most tangs are too active for a 55.

Yes I have heard lemonpeels are a really great one. A snowflake would be a good choice since they are not large, but you may not be able to hold onto any CUC as it may eat them. That would be good choices for your tank IMO.

no problem. I am relatively new as well but have been doing research for a long time now. I really like clowns. You could do a more aggressive clown like a tomato. My favorite is the gold stripe maroon. They get pretty large and can hold their own. You prolly wouldn't want to put much else in the tank though because of bioload. Remember to add then slowly also.

You could do a large Maroon Clown and an SFE with a Fuzzy Lionfish in a 55. Not much else is small enoguh for a 55, but not too small to be eaten by a Fuzzy Lion.

The possibilities are endless. Dwarf Angels, smaller Wrasse, Clowns, Gobies, Blenny's, Cardinals, Chromis, etc... Theres tons of smaller relatively peaceful fish that can be kept together.

Just for an idea, in my 55 I have a falco hawk (see my avatar), a fuzzy dwarf lion and a zebra dwarf lion. I have a pair of maroon clowns in another tank waiting to go into the 55. The male is still too small to go in with the fuzzy lion. I just bought a toby puffer which will be joining the others in the 55 after his ich treatment is complete.
If you choose not to get a lion then you could certainly pick from many fish, as mentioned. I happen to really like lions, not all people do though.

yea i was thinking about maybe getting like a 5.5gal for the clown then maybe putting another one in there with him but i think it would b pushing the bioload then setting up the 55gal around the lion? let me no your thoughts on this
