I was thinking of adding a dwarf lion to my 40 gal. It house a flame hawk mean as hell. Everyone has told me to get a fuzzy dwarf lion. What about other dwarf lions? Are they not as hardy?Does anyone have any pics of these guys? I've been looking on the web with no luck.

No dwarf lion is extremely hardy, but with good water conditions and proper acclimation, they should be fine. A dwarf lion would be fine in your tank as long as the hawk doesn't actually attack it.

I agree about the Fu's, they are colorful and stay small, but IME they are very secretive, and are more difficult to ween over, they are one of the more stubborn lions.
They also rarely swim -they walk, which is totally cool unless you want a beautiful fish thats swims

Fu mans have a horrible tendency of dying within a week though. Some people get lucky (lucky with how the fish shipped) They'll look perfect inthe LFS, but die when they get home. A friend of mine wanted one, and thought that since mine was doing so well, he'd get one too. He got two of them, both of them died within two days. So he got a Volitans lol
I'd be really careful, and make sure your LFS has a good return policy before trying a lion and an aggressive hawkfish. Lions are only called aggressive because they'll eat shrimp, I've never seen one fight an attacker, they usually run. Hawkfish are a lot faster than lions. Since they're both bottom-dwellers, make sure you watch them and can return the lion if the hawk goes after him. They're vicious little buggers when they want to be.

Then you got lucky too :D Did you ever manage to wean them over? Do you still have them? I've had mine for a long time, and I've tried to wean him to frozen, but he won't take it. I'm afraid to be persistant with him since they're also infamous for not taking food whatsoever. The problem is that he misses the ghost shrimp occasionally, and the marine betta gets it...and then I have to re-train the dang thing. If he gets one little tiny ghost shrimp, he won't eat frozen food for a week or so. Drives me insane. Stubborn.
