"easy" fix for megaflow noise

fixed

I've been struggling with horrid noise from the new 150 with dual All Glass Megaflow overflows and a Megaflow sump. The long hose (one short and one long) would make this horrible flushing sound about every 30 seconds, so bad that we could hear it in every room in the house -- nearly a deal breaker. This is with the sump sitting down at one end of the 6' cabinet, with the overflows hoses entering the sump at the end of the cabinet. I'm using a 1250 gph return pump.
I've researched the heck out of this. I've seen fixes related to the overflow hoses vs. hard pipes, drilling holes, air valves, differerent flow rates, different pipes (this kit comes with the flexible "pool"? hoses), unleveling the hoses, and adding gate valves between the drain hoses and the sump.
My LFS guy said to make the dip in the long drain hose as low as possible, avoiding any level areas. So, I yanked that thing down directly under the overflow as low as possible. No change.
After messing with it for several days and preparing to start mail ordering everything from a different pump to gate valves and hoses, on a whim I tried lowering the section of the long drain hose in the middle, into the sump area, instead of under the overflow. Viola. Noise absolutely gone, and it's stayed that way. Seems it just wanted to be dipped in the middle, not the end.
So, having seen this come up a lot, I just thought I'd share this tip in case someone has a similar problem.

you can also put a bioball on top of the tube that goes from the back of the overflow to the sump.. this will stop the slurping noise! worked great for me..

fixed, i'm having the exact same problem, and i'm not sure what your fix is exactly, is there any way you could draw a picture and/or take a picture of the setup, or if anyone else has a solution, great, because i'm am going mad with all the noise, please help
thanks

I had the same flushing noise on my 75g MegaFlow. What fixed mine was putting a ball valve on my return line and restricting the flow a little. What was happening was my return pump was pushing too much into the tank and the overflow was surging.
Now it purrs like a kitty.
(actually much quieter than a kitty)

I have several mega-flow tanks, seems that if your return hose is too long or has anytype of a "U" shape to it, there will be a build of pressure and them "blam" the flushing sound. Cut the return hose to the minimum length needed and make sure it's pointed strait down and when it meets the water heigth in the fuge don't have the hose veering off to the L or R, even a slight amount of excess hose will cause this sound. Why restrict flow when you pay good money for high flow.

I have the megaflows on my 210 and they are very quiet as far as a overflow goes.
Only time i have had this issue is when i turn the pump off for like a water change and air gets into the return hose, i have always just lifted on the hose to help the air out and the overflows stop bouncing but maybe I have just been luck?
