I've been struggling with horrid noise from the new 150 with dual All Glass Megaflow overflows and a Megaflow sump. The long hose (one short and one long) would make this horrible flushing sound about every 30 seconds, so bad that we could hear it in every room in the house -- nearly a deal breaker. This is with the sump sitting down at one end of the 6' cabinet, with the overflows hoses entering the sump at the end of the cabinet. I'm using a 1250 gph return pump.
I've researched the heck out of this. I've seen fixes related to the overflow hoses vs. hard pipes, drilling holes, air valves, differerent flow rates, different pipes (this kit comes with the flexible "pool"? hoses), unleveling the hoses, and adding gate valves between the drain hoses and the sump.
My LFS guy said to make the dip in the long drain hose as low as possible, avoiding any level areas. So, I yanked that thing down directly under the overflow as low as possible. No change.
After messing with it for several days and preparing to start mail ordering everything from a different pump to gate valves and hoses, on a whim I tried lowering the section of the long drain hose in the middle, into the sump area, instead of under the overflow. Viola. Noise absolutely gone, and it's stayed that way. Seems it just wanted to be dipped in the middle, not the end.
So, having seen this come up a lot, I just thought I'd share this tip in case someone has a similar problem.
