Didn't know where to post this. Maybe should have in the newbee section but anyways..... I have FOLR tank. Looking for a colorful mushroom polyp for a beginner? I like the colorful button ones. Any input?

ask us to post pics and you pick out which ones you like... let me find mine.
the first picture is the mushroom on the left and that is the carpet mushroom.
the second picture is the greenish pink mushroom.... both are very pretty and hardy. i have blue mushrooms too but i can't find the pic.

Those are zoanthids, not mushrooms. In the case of either zoo's or shrooms just pick the color you like. They are all about as easy as it gets. Of course you need better than NO lighting.

What kind of light do you have? And how big is the tank?
As long as you have medium-low light (PC or better) then those will be pretty easy. The ricordia is slightly more difficult than a regular shroom. But it's still really easy.

OHHH good mushroom thread! They are all fairly easy and add great color to add to the tank! Here are some of mine...the hairy ones get huge so if you want big ones thats what I would go for...

Are you talking about the orange one? Orange Ricordea. I have two orange, one is single mouthed and the other has 2 mouths. I'm gonna get more I like the color. The hairy one is the coolest though cause they will accept pieces of frozen food. I just have to hold it by their mouth and in about a min or so it will close up on my fingers like a ballon and eat the food...really cool. I'm currantly trying to seperate them, there is like 4-5 on one rock and it's not easy, they are really attached. I don't want to hurt them, so if anyone knows of a safe way to do this please give me a hollar. If you are interested in one I will trade, if I can get them apart.

I refuse to buy floaters any more, lost every one of them even after getting them to attach to sand particles, they always hit the road eventually, I can feel your pain. I have the same shroom you posted first, nice big guy, till he slimed off his rock, now he is under the rocks someplace, get a glimpse of him occasionally, but he is all shrunk up. We use to chase him down and re attach him, but he never would stay.

If those are normal output lights then that won't be enough light for photosynthetic corals. You need to get PC lights or better.
