Eclipse CD player not reading CD's anymore

Anybody out there know how to possibly get a car CD player to read disks again? It's an Eclipse CD8443 deck w/ 8V Preamp Outputs. It is from 2003 I would love to just get a new one but college jobs just don't make the money to get a nice one. I think the laser just needs to be cleaned but I have no idea how I would do this. I is a slot style CD player where you just insert it through the rubber strips.
Anybody who has some advice would save me alot of anger of having to listen to the horrid radio stations that are around here

Thank you

They sell cleaner CD's everywhere, even Wal-mart, for like 10 bucks. My car stereo did this before and worked "good as new" after I ran the cleaner CD. If that doesn't work I'd just buy a new stereo as it would probably cost just as much for reapairs plus labor charges to get that one fixed. If you do have to buy a new one you can find some good deals on E.Bay, just check the seller's rating & feedback to make sure they're not a scammer.

The problem is I don't have the funds to buy a new one. I know about the cleaning disks (I know we used to have one when I lived w/ my parents) but I didn't know it that would mess up a car stereo since its not a tray or "click in" style cd player. I wouldn't pay for labor if it needed it, its 5 years old. I just don't want to fork out $500+ to get another Eclipse (I am a sound quality fanatic so I won't settle for less than 8V Preamp Outputs)

Thanks anyways. I suppose I will pick up one of those CD's tomorrow and see if it will help. The only thing I don't get is that it just stopped playing a disk partially through it and wouldn't read anything for a week. Worked again for a week or so and then stopped for a week. Then it worked for about a minute of a song and then stopped again. I just hope I don't need to buy a new one college, food, and saltwater have pretty much already claimed all my money.

When it stops playing, what exactly happens? The song and track time just stop dead? Does it come to more of grinding hault, sorta like it's skipping? Does the radio turn off?
Would you have the ablility to take the radio out and maybe give it a once over? Take the case off and blow the dirt/dust out with some co2?

The first time it was working fine shut the car off and when I came out for my next delivery (I'm a delivery driver) it was stuck so I took the disk out and tried a bunch more and none would work. The other times it would start constantly skipping. It would play about 1/2 a second then skip like 5 seconds and keep doing that. If I changed the track it wouldn't read at all.
Its not anything big like the whole deck shutting off or anything. I can still use the radio and plug my iPod in and listen that way. The only problem is that iPod's have horrid audio quality when used through an auxilary jack and with delivery I would have to constantly mess with it every time I came back from and took out deliveries because they don't shut off or start up with the car.
I could take it out and possibly take the case off of it if its not some crazy screws. That and as long as I can get to the laser without breaking things. I am pretty handy with these kinds of things but if I don't have the right tool (if they are consumer-proof screws) I won't be able to do it.
I just don't know when I am going to find the time now that classes just started back up and my class/work schedule doesn't even leave me much time to eat. Maybe this weekend.
I hope I also didn't use the theft security last time I installed it in the car. If the power is disconnected you have to insert the first CD that you inserted when you first connected it or it won't work at all. Which was 2 years ago and I can't remember it and I have 700+ CD's

Thanks for the help.

Took it apart and cleaned it between classes today.....Not one speck of dust in the whole case!!! After 5 years of use in multiple cars I was amazed....Thats quality. Took some work to get to the laser though. Thought I broke it for a while....I got it all back together RIGHT, plugged it back in, through in my favorite CD heard some clicking (I am assuming it was realigning gears and whatnot that I had to move around) and BLAM blaring high quality music from my speakers again. I am so pumped....Hopefully it will continue to work. No more Metallica everytime I get into my car anymore....Those guys are like pounding a nail into your brain.

I have hated Metallica since 8th grade and it doesn't help the the radio station here (that is way to soft to be the "hard rock/metal" station they claim to be) plays them at least 3-4 times an hour....I would seriously punch good ole Lars in the throat if I ever met him.

Soft or Metal....There should never be that poppy inbetween rock

But then again most people hate my music so who knows
