Hello All,
I was at a local fish store few days ago and the shop had a eco-system setup. The owner said that with the eco-system setup, the water does not need to be change for at least 6 months.
1. Is that correct?
2. any on this list have an experience with that set-up?
3. how does that compare to wet-dry setup
thank you

That is quite possible, I haven't had to do a water change in a long time. I add about 2 gallons of make up water every 3 days. This is water due to evaporation. I add vitamins and other supplements to my reef. The tank is a 110 by the way. I use a large protein skimmer and a wet dry. I have 175 lbs of live rock with a good clean up crew. I change the filter material about once a month. All my tests read zero, the ph and kh are perfect and my fish is glowing and my invertebrates are healthy, growing and reproducing. I have tons of copapods and amphipods and all kinds of other creatures growing and reproducing. It is possible to have a tank where little maintainance is needed but that will come with time. Get the right filter system and circulation and you are one step closer. There is really no such thing as a no maintainance tank, that is a myth to sell you a saltwater set up.
