EEL ATTACK HELP

My 24" Jeweled moray just attacked my 3" clown trigger and left him in rough shape. His eye looks really cloudy now and his top fin appears to have been ripped off. He just wedged himself between some rocks and its very hard to take him out without taking most of the rock out. My question is: Is there anything I can give him for his wounds once I take him out?
Thanks in advance

Thanks. I found some Melafix that expired a couple of years ago, trash it or is it better than nothing? At the same time I'm having a hell of a time getting this trigger out ( he's in a 180g).

You will probably stress him more trying to get him out. You might wait till morning and hope it is alive. I wouldn't use outdated melafix, try and get some in the morning.

If any fish can survive it, it would be a Trigger. I would leave him be and see what happens.
Sorry to hear the Jeweled attacked him, they have a decent reputation for community Eels, but it can happen.

So he survived the night, his eye still looks pretty cloudy though. I set up a 24g last night and I will be moving him over today and I will be picking up a bottle of melafix and API stress coat marine. Anything I might be missing?

Thanks for the help but he didn't make it. I guess my jeweled moray doesn't like clown triggers, this is the second one he kills: first during a feeding and this one for no apparent reason.

Might be time to decide what you like more the moray or the other fish. Once they start attacking fish, they will probably continue every chance they get.

and for being a teacher you really don't have anything smart to say.
And what would you like me to say? Sorry for your loss, don't worry champ it will be ok? You put a nasty predator in your tank, and you are freaking about it attacking something. People need to stop buying fish or animals for that matter that are nasty, and satisfy some weird brutal desires we have, or compansate for something. Perhaps you should get a boa after that, and cry when it gets out, and kills Spike or Buddy? Triggers are nasty enough, do you really need that ugly thing?

I don't think they wanted you to say anything if you didn't have anything worth saying other than rubbing their mistake in their face. Maybe you have never made a mistake before. If you use sarcasm when talking to people, don't be surprised when you get it back.

Please spare me the talk. I don't have much patience that make those "mistakes". A mistake is putting too much salt in a mix; getting an eel is a calculated eel. Perhaps his store owner told him that its safe? So save your good Samaritan support talk. I feel no sympathy for loses of animals of owners that decide to get nasty predators like an eel, nor do I feel any sympathy for people who lose animals that are too difficult to keep like twin spot goby. Predators, and fragile animals should not be purchased, so eventually store owners will stop selling them. As for the predators, "its so cool, it eats feeders" crowd, that get off on it, well boo freaking hoo. Get over it, he got an eel, it ate his fish, DUH, and get rid of that thing.

I wont spare you the talk since you didn't spare the op the sarcasm and rude remarks. How about if you want to rant, go rant at the store owners who sell people the animals without sufficient information on the care of the animals. This person came here looking for help, your behavior chases people away from using this site, which is what they are supposed to be doing when they have problems. I don't think saltwaterfish.com would appreciate that, especially since they sell eels. I don't think anyone thinks your a stud cause you can bully someone over the computer, why don't you go to wallyworld and go rescue some goldfish. Your time would be better spent than giving someone a hard time who simply wasn't aware this attack would happen for whatever reason. Although I see, and agree with some of your points, your means of delivering your opinion suck.

Speaking of rants, read your last post. Anyways, if pointing out in the original post the lack of common sense is considered bullying, I am deeply sorry. If you read my other posts, you will see that I try to be helpful when people make mistakes or are unsure about things, either from my experience or something I might know about. So before you jump all over me, perhaps you should check that. So please put your shinning armor away, and lets move on. To erifish13, please forgive my rude, insensitive post, keep up the good work. Come on people, use a little of common sense!

I didn't consider myself jumping all over you, just sticking up for the op cause I can still remember when I didn't make the best decisions in the hobby and the animals suffered, but I went to the right places and learned why I made the mistakes and now I try to help others. I just don't think it helps people to say things that might make them feel stupid. I have no interest in tracking down your previous posts, just hope you will be more considerate of the unexperienced hobbyists who most likely make mistakes due to the information from the "professionals" at the local fish store.

Hey, I came here looking for help on how to cure an injured trigger, not to receive any sympathy. I know the risks of having aggressive animals ( heck, I own 2 snakes, a scorpion, and 2 pitbulls), sometimes it works out and sometimes it doesn't. This eel has lived around fish small enough to eat for years without any incidents, so I don't think common sense has anything to do with it. And just to be clear, my dogs names are Bully and Hit, not Spike or Buddy.
