i have a 30 extra high, and just got a snowflake eel thats about a foot long for 18.99$ (good price?), but anyways, i know a 30 isn't big enough, so when he outgrows it, i will have upgraded to a 55 or 125., when i got him about 2 days ago he was being fed nothing but goldfish..i know.. grr.. but i just fed him today half of a silverside, and he took it with no problem!, i was so happy., but here are my questions..
1. is he reef safe i have yellow polyps and a ricordea.
2. how big before he eats my 3 inch coral banded shrimp?, i'll have a 10 gallon set up in about 2 months., hope he makes it..
3. how much and how often should i feed him?, he's eaten half a silverside today, and he ate it in a second or two.. but should i feed him another half?
4. how fast do they grow?, right now he's a foot long, and about as thick as a pencil.
5. any need to know info on him?
6. i can't post pics cause my comp won't allow it.

well first the corals if secured will be fine, ur shrimp will be gone sooner than later, feed him 3 times a week, they can grow pretty fast, and just keep plenty of lr and a tight lid

thanks.. but a lil vague.. my corals are secured, my question is when will my shrimp be eaten.. like how big will the eel have to be, how much 3 times a week?, however much he can eat in 5 mins.?, 1 piece?, 2 pieces?.. how fast do they grow.. couple inches a month?, and i have a reptile screen over my tank, so he can't get out for sure., and i have 40 pounds of liverock, alot of it is piled tonga branch which he winds through.

ur shrimp will be eaten as soon as he is its width, id say 1 or 2 pieces (at the third my eels got disinterested) id say they grow fast as in maybe one inch evry three weeks depending upon feeding.

hes about a foot and a half, he eats krill, shrimp from walmart, and silversides
he eats about 4 or 5 of the shrimp, he scared me a few weeks ago, he didnt come out to eat for like 2 weeks, i was crawling around in the floor trying to find him, searched all over the tank, so i thought i lost him but then one day i saw his head pokeing out of a big conch shell,
it was sold to me as a wolf eel, ive had him for about a year, he was really small when i got him like 4 inches or so, i was new to sw, and didnt know better but if i had known what it was i would have left it there, i have read there preaty nasty, theres one at my zoo thats huge

feed him until they refuse to eat
if you keep him fed enough he may not pick off your shrimp
but the odds are against the shrimp
id put my money on the eel

no let him wait
believe me your not gonna starve a moray eel in 2 days
I like to keep my morays on the hungry side so you see them
but not to hungry because my jeweled starts chasing my fish

do you guys feed your snakes dead or live mice, ive had mine for like 2 weeks and he has only eaten once, hes scareing me, i feed dead, that could be the problem but what do you guys think, its a corn snake btw

i have a 4 foot ghost corn, and a 3 foot regular corn, and i feed the ghost 2 live mice every 2 weeks, and the rgular corn 2 fuzzies (dead mice) every three weeks., don't be scared at all.. snakes can go so long without eating.. the record is 22 months.. and the snake still lived.
how big is s/he?, i just got a yellow rat snake, and he's about 10 inches, and eats 1 live pinky mouse every 2-3 weeks., because he's so small it takes forever for the food to pass through him.
the difference is that live is better for your snakes, but dead makes them less aggressive. corn snakes are generally really nice anyways, so i'd say you could feed it live, the only reason my regular corn eats dead mice is because he has a bad eye, and when he strikes at the live mice... he misses.. its a lil pathedic, so i just feed him dead.
