eel safe?

I have a nitrate of around 5ppm, my tank's been balancing and getting a cycle done for about a week, my temp is 79, and my salinity is 1.024. Am I ready for a snowflake? Last checked, I had no ammonia or nitrites.

Ive never kept an eel and dont know much about them, but if your not done with your cycle then I would definitly not add it. Hopefully someone who knows more about eels will comment but I would want all my paremeters to be where they are supposed to be too.
Do you test for pH, alk, and nitrates?

test for nitrates only so far. I'll run a pH test right now, but don't think I have an alk test

oh sorry, i got mixed up.
The basic things you should test for is:ammonia,nitrites,nitrates,alk,pH, and probably calcium.
