eels ok?

I had a SFE in a reef for about a year. He wouldn't eat snails but did munch on shrimp... with a vengence. Would chase my clowns every once in awhile. Would try to eat hermits - would toss them around the tank. Shook them up a little but no harm done. Would knock over stuff that wasn't glued down - i.e. knocking over my hammer corals repeatedly. No for everyone but if you don't want any crabs/shrimp, have a great skimmer and can tolerate the clumsiness they are cool additions.

i had a SFE in a reef tank for six months with no problems. you should get the eel first and wait till he is settled and then get a coral when he isn't so active and looking for a home. it didn't even bother the snails or hermits, but make sure you have healthy fish, my clowns did alright till i added a new fish, got an ich outbreak and clowns seemed unhealthy, and then disappered one by one.

i have a snowflake eel, and he has never really bothered anything except at feeding time. i feed him 3 times a week usually about a whole shrimp cut into pieces. the other fish also like the shrimp so when they come for it, he just gets them away. but he has never harmed corals. if you want him, you can have him. he has gotten too big. he is about 2 feet. just let me know

if u have a large enough tank garden eels r reef safe, ribbons r reef sfe supposedly, but they will almost nevr eat

and they are super expensive down in Georgia! last time i saw one, it was in the hundreds!

i dont think any eel will be good in a 24 gallon. or mabey not all their life. also, you might want to make sure that if you do get an eel, your fish are bigger than its mouth, that they are on tip top shape and that you are perpared to loose you shrimp. just advice. i had my SFE in a 120 with a pep and did ok. but that is a 96 gallon difference.

i dont know anything on pistol shrimp, but if you want a goby that will be 'together' wiht the pistol, then you would have to go with a watchman goby, i would suggest a yellow watchman. or if you just want an intresting fish to watch a citron clown goby or a sleeper banded goby aka dragon goby is good. and no, its not a manderine.
