Jeweled moray
SF eels
Ghost eel
this book I have says that they will all fit in my tank. I was wondering if any of youguys have experience with these fish.
thanks,

Snowflake would probably be your best bet. I know nothing about the other two, never read much about them, they may be good too.

if i was you i would go with the snowflake....i have one in my 75, had her since she was a baby, got her at about 6 inches, now shes over 1 ft. i first had her in my 30 gallon, then i put her in my 75 wene she got bigger.

Seal your tank off completely if your going to get a snowflake eel. I had my tank sealed off except for a small section and i woke up to a dried up snowflake. I have another in a 90 right now with a totally sealed tank, been housing it for about 8 or 9 months. I feed it krill, silversides, shrimp, clams, chopped scallop, and squid on a feeding stick. He sometimes steals the other fishes brine and mysis from the top also. I highly reccomend one.

i feed mine mostly silversides and krill.....sometimes guppies and ghost shrimp.:)
as far as the tank goes seal it shut...mine doesnt even try to escape and hasnt ever, i dont have a top on my tank, i had a glass one, but wene i was cleaning it off, i triped over and brok half of it. but im not to say all sfe's are not going to attempt or climbed out, so just to be safe and seal the top off...

Thanks guys. that is so helpful. I have to seal off my tank. I wan't going to do it unless I got an eel. Now I think I might just do that. So I have an eel, and a puffer. Can I put anything else in there?? Anyone got any suggestions?
Mike: that eels won't fit in a tank my size will it?

ive got a baby bamboo shark, 3 clown fish, and a fu manchu lionfish with mine....u could put angelfish with em, pretty much any aggressive species just none smaller to fit into the eels mouth.

Golden Moray Eels get about the same size as a SF Eel... I think that you could pull it off! Goldens are kind of rare so be ready to pay a couple hundred dollars for one. I've got a friend that has three golden morays in a 75 gallon... He loves them... They don't cause any problems with his fish (tangs and puffers)...

Yeah, your going to pay a lot more for a golden eel... worth it.. well beauty is in the eye of the beholder. Go with a small SFE, pretty and less of a kick in the pants financially. They get a little over 2 ft in captivity. They do well with fish, but may take casualties once and awhile. A tight fitting cover is a MUST. Provide plenty of rockwork for the eel to hide in and feel secure.

Thanks guys. That is helpful. I think that I might get the SFE. Now I just need one more tank mate for my little fish, and I will be all set.

When I was in high school many moons ago, I had a Mexican Dragon Eel. By far the meanest thing I've ever seen. If a fish sat still for one second, it was gone. Not a very good community mate to say the least. lol.

i have a jeweled moray (aka mexican dragon) and it's my personal favorite (aside from hawaiian dragons)...here is some more info since they aren't as common as sfe's and some other species:
The Jeweled Moray Eel originates from the shorelines of the Eastern Pacific, from the Gulf of California and south throughout Central America. They are one of the smaller Moray Eels, only attaining a maximum size of 24 inches. They are black with beautiful white markings. As a juvenile, these eels are brown with gold spots. This species adapts readily to aquarium life, and does not require a large amount of space.
This is a very hardy eel, but is an escape artist, and requires a tightly sealed aquarium. A 50-gallon or larger aquarium with plenty of live rock for hiding is ideal for the Jeweled Moray. Most of the eels that are lost in an aquarium are due to poorly sealed tanks. These eels are very aggressive in the aquarium, and will eat any fish, crustacean or other eel that it can swallow. Do not house more than one of this species in the aquarium, unless the aquarium is larger than 120 gallons, and the eels are of the same size and acclimated at the same time.
The Jeweled Eel is a nocturnal predator, ambushing fish and crustaceans. In the aquarium it will learn to feed during the daylight hours, and it will take frozen or freeze-dried krill, fish, shrimp, and most meaty foods. It can be taught to hand feed, although this should be done with caution, as it can inflict a painful bite.

i've had mine for about 5-6 years now and he seems to have topped out at about 18-20 inches...to me it's a little more interesting looking than the sfe, but thats just me...he shares his tank with a lion and a mean little damsel who was kicked out of the other tank about a month ago for killing his tank mates...
hth,
mike

Ghost Eels are great in small aquariums...but they are pugnacious little suckers.
I have one, it's a beautiful, wispy white ribbon-like eel, about 20" long with the appetite of my tesselata. Super outgoing, eel, too.

Thanks for all that info. I want an eel, but I wasn't sure if any of these would work inmy tank. Right now I have a scooter blenny, a cc star, and a P.Puffer. Will a ghost, or jeweled eel work with any of these fish? It sounds like the jeweled eel is a little to aggressive for my tank. I will do sme more eel researching.
Thanks all!!!!
