those are diatom alge.. your tank is new im guessing? if so it will happen,, do your weekly water changes get good flow and it will go away fast.. not that hard to get rid of.. by the way eggcrate is prone to grow algae from my experiences.. but it must be exposed to some serious light in your fuge??

well my sump is a 30 g. my fuge is a 2.5g just sitting in my sump. my water level in the sump is high to alow it to flow through the fuge. i have egg crate going up all 4 walls in the sump to keep the macro algea in the fuge and not get sucked in the pump but after i put the marcos in they are under the water all the way anyway and it turned out i didnt need the egg crate. mylight is a 20w 6500k daylight light from depot with a little metal clamp fixture from there also. i have good flow in my fuge because i have my return pump right next to it along with a powerhead blowing water right in. i guess it is diatoms though but it looks alot browner/orange then any diatoms that i have ever seen....andyes it is a new tank, but not my first tank :) thanks
