Eggcrate?

Hey, I plan on an eel in the near future. The only open space I have in my tank is in the back, about 8 inches high by 3 feet long. How would I cover this with something that is movable? I have heard of eggcrate material, what is this stuff and where do you get it? Any other ideas?
My original though was some kind of screening material velcro'd into place. just dont know where or what kind of screening material.

egg crate material is the plastic grate you see over flourescent lights. You can get it at Home Depot or other hardware stores. A 2ft x 4ft piece is about 10 bucks and you can cut it to fit.

If you want to see a picture of it, do an internet search on "eggcrate light diffusers" and you should get some hits. Great stuff, ranks right up there with duct tape in my book!

are the holes small enough to stop a small eel?

Most of the stuff you find has 1/2" squares.
