I just found these egg sack looking things on my glass, I've never seen them before and am hoping that they are not an indicator of something bad. Please help to identify them, the "sacks" are about 1/8th inch long and have small white eggs in them. there are about 15 of these all around the inside glass of the tank. thanks in advance for your help.

Ahh yes those are the metropolinesian bubbles of whale fat. It will need time and love from your fellow palades instructor.

I've seen these on my tank as well, but have been unable to snap a good pic so I'm interested in the answer as well. Maybe a snail egg packet? (I have cerith, astrea, red banded trochus, nassarius and collonista snails in my tank)

They are for sure snail eggs I have them too and I read up on them a little most likely they will not hatch and if they do they will not live I just scrape them off when I clean my glass.

From what I read the eggs just don’t do good in an aquarium situation guess that they just don’t hatch properly I just looked for the article and could not find it but I did find a different article that said they could possibly be the start of a feather duster but I still think they are snail eggs either way I have tons of them from time to time and nothing ever changes on them so they are nothing to worry about.

Ive been reading up on smnail eggs and it seems that some snails go through a planktonic stage after hatching and that seems to be the reason for low survival in an aquarium setting, sucked up by the filter, eaten by fish, corals etc.... the good news is that a few have hatched and i'm starting to see little tiny snails crawling on my live rock so i guess i got lucky with a few and they lived... thanks again for all the help and replies.

They are either Strombus maculatus or Nassarius.
Agreed. If they are S. maculatus you will see the eggs start to move around in there as they get bigger. They will hatch out of the sac and more than likely survive if they aren't eaten. They don't go through the pelagic stage. If they are nassarius, well.... more than likely they won't make it.
