Has anyone ever had the Eheim wet/dry canister filter.
Do you like it or know of any problems with it.
I have the 2229 model currently with my 110g. It mechanically has worked great so far. It seems to keep my levels in check. Since there are no pads, only the media I check mine once every 3 months and I wonder why I need to as there is no build up anywhere. I do a rinse and set it back in operation.
I wanted this unit as I have a closed loop system, why are you looking into it?
It has very minimal flow out of it, so not think that you will use it for circulation as it really does not add much flow.
According to Eheim you can NOT in-line anything to the unit or it will not work properly (i called and asked). However, i have a uv filter inline with it and I use the Eheim surface extractor as well and it still works fine.
What tank will you be using it on?

Thanks for replying.
It would go on a 55 Im setting up.it say the flow is 270gph.
Does it give a pulse to the water and is it quit?
I have been using the classic eheims.....221 2213 2217 etc and think they are the best.
Just looking for a change I guess.

Well, I thought the 'pulse' would be on/off/on/off, but it is not like that. It will push water out faster say 350gph from 30-45 seconds until the unit is almost empty, then drop to say 100gph as it still pushes water out but also fills the container back up. You do not get any wave motion from it. It is almost silent though! I have 2 ECCO that i run on smaller tanks that are great.

Ohhh I see.
I like Eheim because they are so quiet...I was wondering if there was an on off click to be heard...would drive me nuts.
Main reason I have never been a fan of wet dry is the Noise.

No clicking sound at all. Since it is enclosed it really is silent so you do not hear the trickle of water through the media.
If I could do it all over again I would do a sump, but i already invested too much into the system to change it, maybe one day.
