Eheim Surface Suction Extractor

Has anyone ever used this attatchment?
If so how well does it work.
I have an Eheim 2229 and thought about getting one for it.

i used the fluval and it worked great once you get it set right so its not sucking air but that dont answer your ? sorry

Kinda wondering if this might work as a skimmer.

Before you get it make sure you don't need anything extra to run it. I just ordered one with a Ehiem Pro II 2026. Come to find out I also needed 6 foot of smaller hose and and a reducing tee. You actually wind up running the skimmer and the normal intake at the same time.
I would up just pointing my returns to the surface for water agitation and sending the skimmer back.

I have one. I only used it for a while in a FW tank. It did require a T, and some extra pipe, and it was a little noisy. I just hooked up my protien skimmer the other day, and I don't see any need for the surface extractor although I still use Eheims.

Hmmm, thanks for the info!
I might just get a skimmer instead. It looks like the
addon is almost $40.00 so I'll just save a little more
and get a skimmer.
