Eight Month Birthday for My Flowerpots

It has been eight months now and my flowerpots are still alive and kicking. I can't tell if they are bigger or smaller than when I got them, but there definately is new growth all the time (small tentacles always growing inbetween the big ones).
Goniopora can be kept if you have a deep, established sand bed and feed meaty foods. I'll try and take some pictures tonight. Hopefully my good luck continues with these hard to keep corals :)

Why is that?
And how do you dose?

I have a flower pot for over a year and half before I let it die.
to keep it alive I bought Kents iron supp and put it in a syring and just target dosed it. It always looked the healthiest and happiest after iron treatment (tenticles would fully come out). The problem is that I was afraid of what that iron would do to my tank so I stopped and it began dying and I let it die. there are still about 20 or so polyps left, but I am letting it go

I agree w/ the fear of toxicity.
Im sorry to hear your letting it die but what can u do..!?
I wonder if BangGuy Or MudplayerX can chime in w/ some scientific data regarding iron intake for this species.
MudplayerX: You still have that Red flower pot?? If so i would love to see pics.

I'm supposedly getting a new camera phone tonight (Ericson 600i) and I'll try to get some pics. I have old pics, but those are pointless.....unless you want to see them.

Sure why not!!!!
I was reading your post about the coral worm you sanctioned to death via super glue on the red flower pot...lol Which i might add, was a very smart solution!
I just had to ask for pics!

Here is an updated pic of the yellow. As luck would have it the red jewel has been closed since I posted this thread. Hope I didn't jinx it :(

It does look healthy
.
No Goni should stay closed for more than a day. Since it was previously opening fine (I assume), look for something that is irritating it, little invisible hairs stuck in its polyps, grains of sand, fish battling for the territory around it, tube worms or tube snails sweeping it with their annoying strands in the day and/or at night. Also, take your target feeding device and gently blow it off too.

My red jewel is definately dying :( It has opened almost since I started this thread!!!!!! Talk about some friggin irony. I think I messed up my chemistry by overdosing kalkwasser. Yes, I am a moron.

Unless it has:
- lost its color
- developed a pasty white layer
- developed a feathery white veil
- developed a brown jelly infection
- developed algae growth on it
- started shedding polyps or missing polyps
or
- started receded
it may still be fine. They can remain retracted for weeks when heavily stressed.

I have a recent post about my closed for two weeks flowerpot. John Kelly has responded to it several times.
My question is about the dosing with iron. I dose with Kent Marine Essential Elements. It contains a minimun of .6500 MG/oz. Will this work or do I need a dedicated Iron Dosing suppliment?
