I wouldnt even run anylight while cyling IMO. Never had just helps keep down algea.
Whats ur readings lookin like?

I tested the water 2 nite.
PH 8.4
Nitrite 0
Nitrate 0
Amonia 0
The hair is on everything!!! I have stopped using the lights except for the moon light. I would think with all this hair I would see some difference in the readings, but they are the same as last week??

It has been awhile...
I have rearranged the rocks a couple of times. I have added two green chromis fish. One rock of red pollips. This weekend I have added the yellow mushroom and the green mop looking thing of which I can not remember the name right now. It does not seem to be doing too well. :-( I also have a red collared snail helping with the clean up. He is doing a fine job but I still have alage. I was running the lights 12 hours per day. I have cut back to 10.5 hours this weekend to see if that makes a difference.
